The european fitness trend known as “aqua spinning”—a SoulCycle-like mix of in- and out-of-saddle sprints, set in a four-foot-deep swimming pool and soundtracked by pop music—gets its first New York studio when Aqua opens April 15 in Tribeca (78 Franklin St., nr. Church St.; 212-966-6784). The spalike, trilevel space offers 45-minute classes (currently limited to women; from $34, plus the $2 rental of rubber footgear), wherein fifteen half-submerged riders pedal away as many as 600 calories on marine-grade-steel bikes. You can thank the miracle of buoyancy for the reduced morning-after muscle soreness.
