| The 18-by-25-foot living room, with its stained ebony floors, seems more like a loft than like the usual brownstone apartment. The décor has been the same since the family moved in; they plan to add more furniture selectively. Resting on the wall, right, is a painting by Caio Fonseca. “The large white painting above the Victorian leopard chair was a 40th-birthday gift from our friend Philip Smith,” says Kirsten. “He painted it with me in mind, which I of course loved.” |
