Here's where to welcome 2014 by eating well, plus options for recovery brunches the morning after.


North End Grill

The homey American restaurant will serve a three-course dinner for $95, with options including crispy sweetbreads, lobster hollandaise, smoked ricotta ravioli, duck meatloaf, and fried chicken with Cheddar waffles.

Ring in the New Year at this meatpacking district hotspot, offering a substantial prix fixe menu for $195. The menu includes assorted sushi, crispy shrimp, Dover sole, Cantonese lobster, broccoli rabe, and more.

The Dutch

Chef Andrew Carmellini will host a four-course dinner (featuring Peconic Bay scallops, homemade gnocchi, Maine lobster, and chocolate-chestnut tartelette, and more) with a Champagne toast at midnight for $125. They'll also be open on New Year's Day for brunch and dinner.

EN Japanese Brasserie

EN is planning a New Year's experience you're unlikely to find many other places on this side of the Atlantic: a traditional New Year's Mochitsuki (the pounding of mochi rice cakes with a giant wooden hammer). Chef Abe Hiroki will supervise, but any diner that wants to give a swing will be welcome. A keg of sake will be tapped at the stroke of midnight, and two prix fixe options will be available for ($115 and $165), in addition to a vegan menu.

From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., Freemans is pulling out all the stops for its New Year's Eve party, featuring D.J.'s, hors d'oeuvres, hot food stations, an open bar, and a Champagne toast at midnight. Tickets are $190 and guests are asked to dress in their swanky-delight best.

Hecho en Dumbo

Hecho en Dumbo will be celebrating with an evening of unlimited antojitos (their updated takes on Mexican street food), plus a complimentary Champagne toast at midnight for $75. They will also offer an all-night premium open bar option for $100 and D.J. sets from Heroes of the Galleon Trade will get going at 10 p.m.

Isola Trattoria & Crudo Bar

Isola Trattoria will host a cocktail party starting at 9 p.m., featuring live music by jazz musician Brian Newman, who recently performed with Lady Gaga on SNL, and his wife, Angie Potani. Tickets are $125. Table packages are also available and include platters of assorted dishes from 9 to 11 p.m.

Jazz Standard

The upscale club will play host to Henry Butler with Steven Bernstein & the Hot 9 starting at 9:45 p.m. Tickets are $195 and include a three-course dinner at Blue Smoke upstairs and a Champagne toast.

Lexington Brass

Get a group of friends and family together for dinner this year at Lexington Brass. Tickets are $90 for two or $175 for four, and include an appetizer and an entrée per person, plus a bottle of Seguras Viudas Cava and dessert for the table.

Má Pêche

Ring in 2014 with a four-course prix fixe menu, featuring fried chicken or short rib, for $95 at 10 p.m. An all-sparkling beverage pairing is also available for $85. The restaurant will offer a 9 p.m. seating for its $200 multicourse set menu by chef Paul Carmichael at Kappo.

Momofuku Ssäm Bar

This year's dinner includes a special six-course prix fixe menu by chef Matt Rudofker for $115. Parties of two will receive his tasting menu, and parties of four or more will receive a whole rotisserie duck or bo ssäm. A sparkling beverage pairing is also available for $85.

Celebrate the New Year with a five-course tasting menu for $125, with an optional wine pairing for $65 per person. Various seatings are available from 5:3011 p.m.

Northern Spy Food Co.

New Year’s Eve will be Northern Spy's biggest throw-down of the year, including four courses of celebratory delights plus a few surprises for $75. All three seatings (6 p.m., 8 p.m., and 10 p.m.) include wine pairings for $30. E-mail for reservations.

Ring in 2014 at Parm with a four-course menu including assorted antipasti, pasta, an entree of veal Parm or zuppa di pesce, and ice-cream cake. The first two seatings (5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.) are $60, and the last seating (10:30 p.m.) is $75.

Stop by Riverview for its annual New Year's Eve party from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tickets are $150 for an open bar, a buffet featuring regular menu items, and free valet parking.
