Summer with the Stars

July 1
P.S. 1 Warm-Up Opening Day
Braving the crowds to get a first view of the Warm-Up has become a rite of summer among the hipsterati. Show up early to avoid a line spanning three blocks and you’ll have space to explore architectural firm OBRA’s “BEATFUSE!” installation, consisting of seven curved, interconnected shells, three climactically disparate areas, and tidal pools. This summer’s performers include the Idjut Boys on July 8, local favorites Kudu on July 15, and the Glimmers from Belgium on August 26.
• 3:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m
• P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center; 22-25 Jackson Ave., at 46th Ave.; Long Island City, Queens

July 8
Parrish Art Museum’s Midsummer Party
Bust out the loud jacket and funky designer horn-rims. Last year, James Lipton, restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow, Tinsley Mortimer, Barry Levinson, and many others mingled in the museum’s garden. This year’s party celebrates the Swiss architects of the new museum, Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, who previously designed the Tate Modern in London.
• 7 p.m.
• The Parrish Museum, 25 Job’s Lane; Southampton
• $1,000; $150 for the after-party; $10,000 and up for a table
• 631-283-2118; parrishart.org

The Watermill Summer Benefit
A Who’s Who of fashionistas (Calvin Klein, Douglas Hannant, Carlos Miele, Kate Spade, and Zac Posen showed up last year) along with socialites like Fabiola Beracasa, Anthony Haden-Guest, and Shosanna Lonstein, and art royalty like Larry Gagosian— not to mention actual royalty like Princess Mimi Romanoff and Princess Elena of Spain will explore the sculptures in the wooded acres of Robert Wilson’s artist retreat.

VH1 Save the Music Benefit
The music guest hasn't been announced but expect someone of the caliber of Toni Braxton to grace the makeshift stage on this $2 million estate. Last year, when a "Music of Love" theme called for daybeds and votive candles, Braxton gave a preview of her forthcoming album while 5,000 pieces of sashimi tuna on wonton crisps were consumed by invitees like Russell Simmons and famous progeny Victoria Gotti, Alexandra Richards, and Osama bin Laden’s pinup niece Wafah DuFour.
• 7:00 p.m. • The Estate of Jaci Wilson Reid and Morris L. Reid, East Hampton
• $300

July 29
Art for Life
Russell and Kimora Lee have split, but they're still united for a good cause as once again they open their home to hundreds of fellow power brokers such as Usher, Jon Bon Jovi, and Cynthia Nixon. At last year's fundraiser for Rush Philharmonic (televised on MTV's Run's House), auctioneer Star Jones Reynolds fetched $11,000 for a tennis lesson with Serena Williams. Everyone who attends pays $1,000 and up.
• 6 p.m. • The Home of Russell and Kimmora Lee Simmons, East Hampton; 212-997-3010

July 29
Super Saturday 9
This "Rolls Royce of garage sales" (as christened by the New York Times) is co-hosted by Donna Karan, Charla Lawhon, and Kelly Ripa. Last year, Christy Turlington, Petra Nemcova, and Rudy Giuliani trolled clothes, furnishings and beauty products on the grounds of the 100-acre sculpture garden in order to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. (All items—donated by over 200 designers—are discounted 30-50 percent.)
• Noon-6 p.m.
• Nova's Ark Project; 60 Millstone Rd., Water Mill, NY
• $400-$600; official website, 212-268-1002.
