My Favorite Things

Anishka Clarke, co-owner, Ishka Designs

I recently discovered a new recipe book, Caribbean Potluck, written by two foodie Jamaican sisters.

I love the minimalist vibe and highly curated offerings at The Primary Essentials. 372 Atlantic Ave, nr. Hoyt St., Boerum Hill; 718-522-1804

The new home-décor store Peace & Riot carries a wide range of products—from trays and carpets to books and jewelry. 492 Nostrand Ave., nr. Halsey St., Bedford-Stuyvesant 347-663-6100

Studio Four NYC specializes in independent textile and wallpaper designers—talent who think outside the box. 900 Broadway, at 20th St., Ste. 201 212-475-4414

Antique iron objects carry a lot of history because they last for so long. The pieces that I gravitate toward are more worn, textured, and rusticated. It makes me feel connected to a past. It might be a lug nut, or an iron stool or pot. Eddie’s Swap Shop, 224 Greene Ave., at Grand Ave., Fort Greene

I’d like to envelop my home in scents from Apotheke. The soaps are only made from organic and natural ingredients and the candles from soy. I love the Rosemary Mint and Lime Lavender scented candles. My favorite soap is the Sage Lemongrass.

For gifts for clients or friends, I trust the Brooklyn-based home-décor company Hammocks & High Tea’s beautiful, ecofriendly pillows, scented drawer liners, and dopp kits.

The Eileen lamp is a fantastic conversation piece because it’s so architectural and skeletal. ABC Carpet & Home, 888 Broadway, at 19th St. 212-473-3000

I do love the Fang mask. The masks are large with long, slim features and a somewhat heart-shaped face. Most have a striking black-and-white contrasting paint finish. They have a very strong presence and exude power. Calabar Imports, 708 Franklin Ave., nr. Park Pl., Crown Heights; 718-638-4288
