Museum or Mushroom Farm?
Situ Studio, the Brooklyn-based experimental design and fabrication firm, is kicking off the renovation of the Brooklyn Museum’s great hall by transforming its columns into oversize fungi. The installation, “re:Order: An Architectural Environment,” converts the museum's signature space into a surrealist lounge where visitors can sit under massive suspended canvas canopies. When you’re done marveling, move along to “Thinking Big: Design Acquisitions,” a new installation of 20th- and 21st-century objects pulled from the museum’s collection of decorative arts, including Jeroen Verhoeven’s “Cinderella” table to Wendell Castle’s “Nirvana” armchair (200 Eastern Pkwy., at Washington Ave., Prospect Heights; “re: Order” from 3/4-1/15; “Thinking Big” from 3/4-5/29; suggested donation $10; 718-638-5000).

Party at Murray’s House
To help celebrate Armory Arts Week, design maven Murray Moss is presenting “Arthur,” an exhibition of functional yet highly artistic design objects this Thursday. Pieces sculpted, woven, molded, and cut by designers like Christian Haas, Massimiliano Adami, Haresh Lalvani, Gaetano Pesce, and Studio Job will be on view at the Moss store through April 16 (150 Greene St., at W. Verge Brooklyn Art Fair, a four-day series of gallery events throughout the borough, branches out to the Design Within Reach in Brooklyn Heights this Thursday. The arbiter of moddish housewares is throwing a party to showcase the latest works by Orlando Dominguez, who specializes in furnishings made from repurposed materials.
