Space of the Week: The Upside to Downsizing

“We went from 2,500 square feet to 1,000 square feet,” says architect Robin Osler about downsizing from a Chelsea loft to a two-bedroom apartment in Inwood three years ago. Along with her husband, Bruce Matthews, and their 12-year-old mixed-breed rescue dog, Uta, Robin”who is a principal at the EOA architecture firm (eoarch.com)”happily traded indoor space for outdoor pleasures. Or, as she puts it, “[Manhattan’s] least green neighborhood for its most green.” The proximity of both Inwood Hill and Isham Parks makes it a joy to take “the grande dame” for long walks, even on the hottest day of the summer.
