“You should be able to enjoy sitting with your friends, so I wanted to make this more lounge-y. It should be as much a living room as a dining room. You could even have a bed in there if you want to!”

Cold Island

Cold Island

“I wanted to have two islands, so all your friends could stand around while you cook. There should be one for cold preparation, with lots of surface area.”

Hot Island

Hot Island

“So I wanted to have two sides: One was gas burners, with at least one of them that would put out lots of BTUs, a big burner that would be as hot as the ones we have in a restaurant; and on the other, a flattop with two electric burners and two induction burners”

Ovens

Ovens

“There are three ovens here. One is a good, conventional Electrolux, oven for low temperatures and baking; another is a really hot full-convection oven; and, of course, a microwave. I wish I could have a steam oven, a Combi oven. But not too many home kitchens have one of those.”

Table

Table

“The table sits eight people. I think that’s the most that you can cook for and still really enjoy your friends. There can’t be more than eight.”
