Tonight’s boldfaced parties:
• For Your Consideration screening. Walter Reade Theatre, Lincoln Center, 6:30 p.m. Christopher Guest and the usual suspects — Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Parker Posey, Harry Shearer, Bob Balaban — will be on hand for the showing of their latest movie. We’ve read that Christopher Guest doesn’t like the term “mockumentary,” so instead we’ll refer to For Your Consideration as a semi-improvised fake-u-ographical filmpicturation.
• New York Comedy Festival Roast of Mario Batali. Capitale, 130 Bowery, nr. Grand St., 6:30 p.m. Scheduled guests include James Gandolfini, Michael Imperioli, Stanley Tucci, Emeril Lagasse, Mario Cantone, Artie Lange, and Sarah Silverman. If only there were something really obvious to make fun of Mario Batali about.
• “The Academy Salutes Dede Allen.” Academy Theatre at Lighthouse International, 111 E. 59th St., nr Park Ave., 7:30 p.m. Dede Allen is a film editor who worked on Dog Day Afternoon, Reds, Wonder Boys, and other fine movies. Disappointingly, the “Academy” referred to in the event’s title is the Academy for Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and not Professor X’s Academy for Mutants, as we had hoped. Expected to appear: Tony Kushner, Sidney Lumet, Erica Jong, Wolverine (maybe).
