The Daily News has obtained Alex Rodriguez’s legal response to his wife Cynthia’s divorce papers, and it’s not too surprising. He wants to stick with their prenup and dismisses complaints of infidelity that were included in Cynthia’s filing. In her version of the story, their marriage “is irretrievably broken because of the Husband’s extra marital affairs and other marital misconduct.” But A-Rod says that whole cheating thing is “immaterial and impertinent and should be stricken.” Impertinent? Okay, um, sure. But immaterial? That seems like a bit of a stretch.
The silver lining in all of this is that A-Rod doesn’t want to fight over his little daughters, Natasha and Ella. “Husband admits and acknowledges that wife is a loving and nurturing mother,” the papers concede. “Husband is confident that he and wife will be able to continue to work with one another to co-parent their children together and that they will be able to agree upon a time-sharing schedule … without the need for court intervention.”
The Yankee slugger says that Cynthia should have main custody because he travels so much for work. According to the papers, he is required “to travel extensively from spring training in March through the end of the baseball season in September” and “more often than not, through the baseball playoffs in October.” Aw, A-Rod. Now you’re just rubbing it in.
