Raffaello Follieri Summered Down the Shore

You’d think with his high-flying lifestyle of private jets and bespoke suits, jailed developer Raffaello Follieri would have kept a summer house somewhere chic. Southampton. Newport. Capri. But no! As it turns out, Anne Hathaway’s ex-boyfriend owned a beach house in Wildwood, New Jersey. Yes, that’s right. The Jersey shore. The southern Jersey shore, home of water ice, booty shorts, and Lucy the Elephant. The Post today reports that Raffaello bought a four-bedroom townhouse in North Wildwood, New Jersey, from Bishop Joseph Gallante in February 2007, and according to New Jersey real-estate records, it was in the Italianate Style—the Jersey Italianate style: There’s a pool, a deck, vaulted ceilings, beige carpeting, and the whole thing looks like it might be made of plastic. But! It’s a short walk away from the boardwalk and steps away from popular nightspot Shady O’s. Not that Follieri will be bellying up to the bar for a pint of Yuengling this summer: He had to sell the house last week, seeing as he needs to come up with $21 million to free himself on bail on federal fraud and money-laundering charges. If he made asking price — $399,000 — then he’s, er, partly there!
