Yesterday afternoon, Michael Douglas participated in a panel discussion at the U.N. on the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. Afterward, a reporter asked the actor about, as he put it, the “financial Armageddon on Wall Street,” because what The People have a right to know what the guy who was in Wall Street thinks about this stuff.
“You and the character you played knew very well about greed,” the reporter started, rather insultingly, we thought. “Who do you blame for this, what’s happened? And what is the potential spiraling impact?”
Douglas made an awkward analogy about various “disintegrating” government systems and politely tried to turn the conversation back to nuclear disarmament. But the reporter would not quit. “Are you saying, Gordon, that greed is not good?” he asked.
“I’m not saying that,” Douglas replied. “And my name is not Gordon. He’s a character I played twenty years ago.”
The AP caught it all on video, which is after the jump if you’d like to cringe. Poor Michael Douglas! He’s so sad that no one wanted to talk nuclear test ban with him. Don’t they know he also once played the American President? Also, WHO is that reporter? Please let us know.
