Campbell Brown Calls Out McCain Campaign for ‘Sexist’ Barrier Between Sarah Palin and the Media

While witnessing the hypercautious way in which the McCain campaign protects Sarah Palin from any unscripted interaction with the media (as adeptly chronicled by Moe over at Gawker), one might simply chalk it up to the fact that the Republicans are afraid Palin will crumble under direct questioning. And that is probably correct. It’s not that she will necessarily flounder (how would we know?), but that the McCain camp is afraid that she will. And CNN’s Campbell Brown has had enough of it. For all the GOP bluster that Palin is “tough,” a “maverick ready to take on Washington,” and a “pitbull with lipstick,” Brown observed last night on air that they’re treating her like a “delicate flower that will wilt at any moment.” “I have had enough of the sexist treatment of Sarah Palin,” Brown railed. “It has to end.” “Allow her to show her stuff,” she continued. “Let her have a real news conference with real questions.” Wonder how Campbell-hating Steve Schmidt is going to get faux-outraged over this one?
