When Brooklyn U.S. Representative Ed Towns was elected to chair the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform in December, a lot of people wondered at what a man who had left so few footprints during thirteen terms in Congress would do with such a powerful position. So the Politicker asked him, and he said he’d look into the stimulus package, athletics, contracting fraud, and body parts. “I’m becoming very interested in this whole selling of body parts,” he told the Observer. “I happened to be on Court Street one day and I bumped into a couple of friends of mine and they were telling me about an incident in their own family. I said, ‘This is crazy.’ I said, ‘Maybe we need to look into it.’” [PolitickerNY]
I’m going to spend the next year as a private citizen, but I do indeed intend to run for office again. I’m not sure for what, and I am not exactly certain when. I need to take a nap. But once I do, I’m planning to get back into the ring.
