Sully Rewarded With Useless Key, Boring-Sounding Book

This morning, Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger became one of only a handful hundreds of heroes humans — including the mayor of Rome, formerly popular actor Mickey Rooney, and the Finnish rock band Leningrad Cowboys — to be granted a key to New York City. But a frequently rewarded key that doesn’t open anything and isn’t even made of chocolate wasn’t the only thanks bestowed upon Sully for saving hundreds of lives in the most flawless, skillful landing in the history of commercial aviation. Mayor Bloomberg also tracked down a brand-new copy of the library book Sully lost to the depths of the Hudson, which, judging by its title, Just Culture: Balancing Safety and Accountability, was probably being used to prop up one side of the captain’s chair. So enjoy the fruits of your remarkable heroism, Sully. You have truly earned them.
