Peter Madoff Can Afford to Take the Subway Again

The other day, Peter Madoff’s lawyer asked a judge to remove a temporary freeze on his client’s assets, one that was requested by an uppity law student whose trust fund was lost by Peter’s brother Bernie. “I don’t know that he can afford a MetroCard,” the lawyer pleaded. Today, the judge took pity on Peter Madoff and released the $10,000 a month allowance the court granted him in December. But his problems aren’t over: According to the Journal, in court “he was wearing a dark suit, white shirt, and brown striped tie.” Now that is a tragedy. [WSJ]
