Last night, Democratic State Assemblyman Ruben Diaz Jr. was elected Bronx borough president. He succeeds Adolfo Carrión Jr., who left to become director of Urban Affairs at the White House. Diaz Jr. won the election with 87 percent of the votes, defeating Republican opponent Anthony Ribustello, who is best known for playing Tony’s driver on The Sopranos. [NYT]
