Anybody Skipping Work to See the High Line This Week?

This morning a gang of politicians and celebrity supporters of the High Line Park, including Mayor Bloomberg, Christine Quinn, and Diane Von Furstenberg, visited the green strip that now hovers over Chelsea. Bloomberg cut a red ribbon to commemorate the event, and later in the day, some other visitors were let up to preview it. (According to the Times, even though it officially opened today, tomorrow is the first day that members of the public can access it openly from seven in the morning to ten at night.) You can access it through steps up from Gansevoort Street and an elevator at 16th Street. It’ll probably be a mob scene this weekend, so if you really want to be among the first few to scope it out, you know what you have to do.
