At Greenwich Weddings, Gay Couples Cry More Than Straight Ones

In a Times story about the uptick of gay weddings in border town Greenwich, Connecticut, justice of the peace Elizabeth Bonsal says that there’s a distinct difference between the civil wedding ceremonies of gay and straight people. “About 90 percent of the same-sex couples I marry, one or both have tears in their eyes,” Ms. Bonsal said. “Heterosexual couples will do that occasionally, but they haven’t been denied this right.” Aw. That’s touching. Their registries are sweeter, too, you know. [NYT]
