Ali Wise Is Taking a Little ‘Me’ Time

Since her arrest earlier this month for hacking into another socialite’s voice mail, publicist-socialite Ali Wise has gone through the three phrases of grief we’ve come to understand one experiences after being the subject of a damning “Page Six” scandal: Mortification (as evidenced by her fleeing to Los Angeles in the aftermath of the scandal), Bargaining (Wise reportedly begged tabloid reporters to stop covering her), and Acceptance (this quote from the Dalai Lama recently appeared on her Twitter account: “Compassion, forgiveness, these are the real, ultimate sources of power for peace and success in life”).

Wise is now back in New York, and back to socializing, though not, perhaps, in quite the same manner she used to. Per her Twitter page, she was recently at Blaue Gans watching a Yankees game. Last night she took in a Pete Yorn concert. And today, we read in Women’s Wear Daily that she has left another part of her old life behind: her job at Dolce & Gabbana.

Dolce and Gabbana confirmed Wednesday that Wise is no longer working at the company, but it didn’t elaborate.

We’d like to believe this was voluntary. That Ali, upon reflection, decided to shake off the spangly, superficial, catty world that led her down the long, dark road of bitchitude, and is looking forward to a new life — and we applaud it. Go, Ali. Let your roots grow out and your nails break off and your butt swell with beer and the foods of Eastern Europe. Be yourself. Be free.
