’Tis the season to be swanning about the Hamptons! But just in case you’re not, here’s our weekly wrap-up of what you missed this weekend.
NYC Prep’s PC Peterson bromanced Barron Hilton at Axe Lounge. Nacho Figueras, the polo-champ-turned-Polo-model, posed for pictures in Bridgehampton and chatted about his recent match with Prince Harry, noting, “He is a strong player. Fierce. I would love to play with him again.” The Young and The Restless’s Alex Donnelley has been visiting Billy Joel’s Sag Harbor home, boating and motorcycling with the newly-single Piano Man. Alexa Ray Joel, meanwhile, performed for Mom Christie Brinkley at an Alice + Olivia event in Montauk. And there was an uproar at the Social Life estate in Water Mill when Ciara ditched the party she was supposed to be hosting, claiming she had to hit the studio with Justin Timberlake instead. That’s what they all say.
After bringing his former Star-reporter fling, Kate Major, to dinner at Southampton’s Red Bar with Michael Lohan (whom he also lunched with this weekend), Jill Zarin, and Southampton Mayor Mark Epley, Jon Gosselin announced at Saturday’s Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge that he’s still in love with Hailey Glassman, his 22-year-old party-loving ex. Socialites at the East Hampton Antiques Show were kvetching about all the unwanted Bloomberg pamphlets filling up their mailboxes, suggesting they hire a truck to dump them all in front of the Mayor’s townhouse. Governor Paterson’s been hanging around the East End, dining at Mirko’s before Russell Simmons’s benefit and having one of the state troopers in his security detail hook up a grill when no one could get it working at a Sagaponack barbecue.
Pop-up shops, especially those featuring photos of scantily-clad lifeguards, are all the rage in Southampton. Beth Ostrosky hosted a Halston trunk show in Water Mill. Kelly Ripa lunched at Ziggy’s and Kelly Bensimon picked up takeout at East Hampton’s Turtle Crossing. Amanda Hearst and Stella Keitel hosted a summer kick-off at Intermix.
And the state has temporarily closed all shellfish-harvesting areas off of East and Southampton due to concerns that the heavy rainfall could render the fish unsafe to eat.

Second-quarter Hamptons luxury home sales have stalled, owners have cut prices by an average of twenty percent, and a mere 37 houses over $2.36 million have sold this year. Meanwhile dollar sign that someone scorched into East Hampton High School’s faux-grass football field will cost $65,000 to repair. And Sagaponack, Bridgehampton, Amagansett, and Southampton all made the list for Forbes magazine’s “America’s Most Troubled Luxury Neighborhoods” list.
