During yesterday’s somber earnings call, Goldman Sachs CFO David Viniar briefly addressed the code allegedly stolen by ex-employee Sergey Aleynikov. “We still have all of the code,” he explained to Reuters, whose reporters had been referring to the code as a “secret sauce” vital to Goldman’s moneymaking operation. “It is not like the code had been lost to Goldman Sachs,” he went on. “And even if it had been, it is a small piece of our business.” Oh. Disappointing. Next they’ll tell us that Secret Sauce is just Thousand Island dressing.
