We should have known all along that Chuck Todd would never part ways with the facial hair that catapulted him from little-known political nerd to internationally acclaimed authority on all things. Despite some cunningly deceptive tweets on Wednesday about shaving off his goatee, Todd revealed the good news earlier this morning. “I’ve written two checks to both our charities,” he wrote to impish instigator Jake Tapper. “Translation: a certain facial feature is still in tact [sic].” So it’s a win-win: Chuck Todd keeps his goatee and remains the most transcendent political analyst since Plato, and homeless addicts and impoverished Pakistani women benefit from a sophomoric bet they could never truly appreciate and would probably kind of resent.
