Daily News ‘Gatecrasher’ Columnist Hired by Hollywood Life

Hollywood Life creator Bonnie Fuller, who recently hired gossip writer Corynne Steindler away from “Page Six,” has added another tabloid columnist to her talent roster. Laura Schreffler, a former OK! staffer who recently left her post as head writer for the Daily News’ “Gatecrasher” column, will now be the West Coast bureau chief of Fuller’s new website venture. Amanda Sidman, Schreffler’s deputy, is currently helming the Daily News column — a two-page spread that replaced their long-term “Rush & Molloy” column in December 2008.

Fuller, a magazine powerhouse who has run titles like Flare, YM, Marie Claire, Cosmo, Glamour, Us Weekly, and Star, will launch the renewed Hollywood Life this fall as a news and entertainment site with a women’s style focus. She says she’s hiring a mix of old and new media types to flesh out her team. “We’ve really been trying to hire a mix,” she explained, pointing to Executive Editor Will Lee as an example of someone with experience straddling multiple platforms, having formerly worked at TV-and-web shop TMZ. Currently, the Hollywood Life West Coast office, which will eventually have three or four members, is smaller than the New York headquarters, where Fuller herself is based. “Hollywood isn’t necessarily just a physical location, it’s more of a psychological state of mind,” she told Intel. “There’s an enormous amount of celebrities here in New York, many of the biggest stories in the last couple of months have been in New York. DJ AM, for example, and David Letterman. We even have a celebrity president now, and a celebrity First Lady!”
