Let’s All Shed a Tear for the Country’s Richest Billionaires

Damn you, economy! For only the fifth time since 1982, the combined wealth of the 400 richest Americans has actually decreased, by a grand sum of $300 billion. When even our nation’s most talented businesspeople, innovators, and heirs of people who were talented businesspeople and innovators can’t get by in this economy, what chance do average dolts like ourselves have? As for personal losses, our own Mayor Bloomberg finds himself in the No. 8 spot for the second straight year, though with a net worth down $2.5 billion. But at least he’s not Warren Buffett, who lost a staggering $10 billion in just the past twelve months. And thus, for the first time, someone has uttered the phrase “At least he’s not Warren Buffett.”
