Well, this isn’t good. Apparently the CIA had information that may have helped stop failed underwear-bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab but it didn’t connect the dots. The first bit of information came last August when the CIA learned that someone called “The Nigerian” was meeting with “terrorist elements” in Yemen. Three months later Abdulmutallab’s father spoke with a CIA officer at the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria about how his son was tied to extremists in Yemen. Those were the dots. They were never connected.
