Alleged Accomplices to Najibullah Zazi Arrested in Queens

The FBI arrested Queens residents Adis Medunjanin and Zarein Ahmedzay as part of the ongoing investigation into an alleged terror plot spearheaded by Colorado airport driver (and former doughnut man) Najibullah Zazi, who is already in federal custody. Their passports were seized with warrants alleging conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction (the plot was said to target the New York City subway system with a series of bombs). Medunjanin, at least, made an attempt to escape officials, fleeing from the Queens home where he’d been watched by investigators for months and speeding down the Whitestone Expressway. The 25-year-old Bosnian immigrant, who allegedly once traveled with Zazi to Pakistan on a trip, rear-ended another car near 20th Avenue, allowing FBI agents to catch up with him and literally tackle him into custody. His lawyer, naturally, maintains that he’s innocent of any wrongdoing.
