A spokesman for Democratic Congressman Steve Israel who was, er, persuaded by the White House earlier last year not to challenge Kirsten Gillibrand says that, despite some calls for him to change his mind, Israel is “definitely not going to run for Senate.” At the same time, according to the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza, Israel also commissioned a phone poll in recent weeks and “[n]o one could explain to us why Israel would poll if he wasn’t re-thinking his decision not to run.” [NYP, Fix/WP]
