Last night when news broke that Mayor Bloomberg would be welcoming former campaign strategist Howard Wolfson into his administration, we wondered if it meant he was still harboring some national ambitions. Well, we weren’t alone. Today a reporter with the same thought asked Bloomberg if he has any plans to seek out that egg-shaped office currently occupied by Barack Obama. Hizzoner was no pleased.
“I can’t believe you’re even asking it. I have no plans to run for President of the United States in 2012, 2016 or 20-anything,” he said.
“I’ve got Howard Wolfson. I didn’t know him before we recruited him to work on the campaign…He is a phenomenally competent guy.”
So this means he’s running in 2100, right?
