things you don't expect to hear from terrorists

Twitter Is Having Some Fun With Osama Bin Laden Today

Osama Bin Laden, apparently in the midst of a creative surge, is out with yet another audio recording today. But this time he’s focusing less on Israel-Palestine and more on … global warming.

In the tape, broadcast in part on Al-Jazeera television, bin Laden warned of the dangers of climate change and says that the way to stop it is to bring “the wheels of the American economy” to a halt.

He blamed Western industrialized nations for hunger, desertification and floods across the globe, and called for “drastic solutions” to global warming, and “not solutions that partially reduce the effect of climate change.”

We hope Osama’s cave has access to Twitter, so he can see that the world has turned his call to action into the latest mocking hashtag meme. Some select examples of tweets using #nextOBLtape:

Okay, so it’s basically just Osama saying random stuff, we guess. Not as clever as, say, the classic Pete Hoesktra meme, which to this day we chuckle over whenever we hear the name Pete Hoesktra (which is rare). But it’s still fun to gang up on a terrorist mastermind, in our own nerdy way.
