Illinois Democratic Lieutenant Governor Candidate Drops Out

You may be wondering why you should be interested that Scott Cohen, the surprise Democratic nominee in the Illinois lieutenant governor’s race, called a press conference last night during the Super Bowl to announce that he was dropping out. Here’s why: He was pressured to do so by his future running mate, Illinois governor Pat Quinn, who only narrowly won his own Democratic primary. Why did Quinn push him out? Because Cohen — a multimillionaire pawnbroker who pumped millions into his primary campaign but failed to pay thousands in child support — was an admitted steroid user (but not in the past couple of weeks!) who has been accused of assaulting both his ex-wife and his ex-girlfriend, the latter of whom is a convicted prostitute he met at a massage-therapy spa. Interesting, no?
