New Yorkers Want to Get High and Forget About Their Dysfunctional Government

A new poll shows that large majorities of New Yorkers believe that the state’s budget crisis is “very serious” and that the legislature will lack the political courage to solve it. So it’s not surprising that by the end of the poll, the thought of getting stoned sounded appealing. Seventy-one percent of New Yorkers support a bill legalizing medical marijuana, including majorities of Democrats, Independents, Republicans, men, women, young people, senior citizens, whites, blacks, upstaters, city folk, Eskimos, mimes, and ornithologists. The only people that don’t support it: drug dealers. [Quinnipiac]
