Depressed Thieves Steal $70 Million Worth of Prozac

Well, this is sad. Thieves broke into the Eli Lilly & Co. warehouse in Connecticut this past weekend and, in a complicated heist that involved rappelling into the building in the middle of a rainstorm, stole $70 million worth of drugs, mostly the antidepressants Prozac and Cymbalta.

The thieves, whose identities remained unknown Tuesday, made off with enough drugs to fill at least one tractor-trailer, police said.

Just by the way it occurred, it appears that there were several individuals involved and that it was a very well planned-out and orchestrated operation,” Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said. “It’s not your run-of-the-mill home burglary, that’s for sure.”

Clearly, these thieves were in a manic phase. It’s too bad. If only they had gotten the help they needed, they might not have turned to a life of crime.
