In just the past few hours, we’ve written about the nascent Senate campaigns of an oral surgeon and an Idol judge’s dad. Completing the day’s trifecta of Kirsten Gillibrand challengers is David Malpass, a former chief economist for Bear Stearns and current president of Encima Global, an economic-research firm. News of Malpass’s potential Republican candidacy has been brewing for a while now, but today on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Malpass said that he’s filed papers and plans to officially declare in mid-April.
