Focus in the capital will turn toward America’s children on Monday, when President Obama sends his blueprint for education reform to the Hill. Obama will aim to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, which came to be known as No Child Left Behind in the Bush years. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan called Bush’s policies “utopian.”
Also on Monday, Michelle Obama will appear on the cover of Newsweek with an article, “My Fight Against Childhood Obesity.” The magazine ran a cover story about educational reform last week.
