Sarah Palin Is Just Like God, Says Sarah Palin

Politician/author/TV commentator/stand-up comedienne/ … deity? Sarah Palin made the connection herself on Friday during a speech at an Ohio Right to Life fund-raiser. Ever since she was caught with notes on her palm reminding her of the basic tenets of her own political philosophy, Palin has yet to provide a non-embarrassing explanation. On the Tonight Show last week, Palin said that nobody “could argue the substance” of her notes. This is true — it is literally impossible to formulate an argument against the word “energy.” But that doesn’t address why she needed such simple notes in the first place. Now, she has finally come up with a good excuse: I’m just like God.

[S]omebody sent me the other day, Isaiah 49:16, and you need to go home tonight and look it up. Before you look it up, I’ll tell you what it says though. It says, hey, if it was good enough for God, scribbling on the palm of his hand, it’s good enough for me, for us. He says, in that passage, he says, ‘I wrote your name on the palm of my hand to remember you,’ and I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m in good company.’ “

Granted, if even the omniscient need a little reminder from time to time, you can’t really blame Palin, can you? Then again, God also had a lot of other stuff on his plate — overseeing the entire universe, performing miracles, and deciding which teams will win their sporting events, to name a few. Palin has a speaking tour.
