Even though it’s become clear that Republicans and Democrats will probably reach an agreement on the financial-regulation legislation, Harry Reid has run out of patience and announced that a preliminary test vote will be held on Monday. “I’m not going to waste any more time of the American people while they come up with some agreement,” Reid said. The Democrats are wagering that at least one Republican will vote for cloture. And if they don’t, negotiations will resume until they do. Either way, the bill looks certain to pass in the near future. This will not be like health-care reform, thank God. [Politico]
