Holder: 9/11 Terror Trials Could Still Be Held in New York

9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s trial may still be held in New York City. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said today that though the White House is taking “into considerations the concerns that have been raised by local officials, and by the community of New York,” the possibility of holding the trials of Mohammed and the other 9/11 plotters in the city is “not off the table.”

Holder added that the Southern District of New York — which includes the Bronx, Westchester, Rockland, and surrounding counties — could be a better venue for the trials, as it is “a much larger place than simply Manhattan.” Meanwhile, as the wait for an official announcement continues, Senator Chuck Schumer dismissed Holder’s claim: “We know the administration is not going to hold the trial in New York. They should just say it already.”
