Lloyd Grove asked former Washington Post executive editor Ben Bradlee, who in 1961 helped convince the Graham family to acquire Newsweek, who he thought would buy his for-sale sister publication. “I think it’s quite hard to predict that it will be bought,” Bradlee told him. “I mean, it loses money, its prospects for making money are not immediately attractive to some investor — and I don’t know what will happen.” Yikes.
