Ben Bradlee: ‘I Think It’s Quite Hard to Predict That [Newsweek] Will Be Bought’

Lloyd Grove asked former Washington Post executive editor Ben Bradlee, who in 1961 helped convince the Graham family to acquire Newsweek, who he thought would buy his for-sale sister publication. “I think it’s quite hard to predict that it will be bought,” Bradlee told him. “I mean, it loses money, its prospects for making money are not immediately attractive to some investor — and I don’t know what will happen.” Yikes. Doesn’t the Washington Post Company, where Bradlee is a vice-president, want someone to pay to take the magazine off their hands? [Daily Beast]
