General Petraeus Says Faisal Shahzad Acted Alone

General David Petreaus says that Times Square car-bomber Faisal Shahzad acted as a “lone wolf” who was “inspired by militants in Pakistan but didn’t have direct contact with them,” according to the AP. We don’t know how to square that with reports, like the one in the Washington Post yesterday, that investigators “are increasingly convinced that [Shahzad’s] accounts to interrogators, in particular his assertion that he was trained by the Pakistani Taliban, are on the mark,” or that officials have identified an “overseas courier” who funneled money to Shahzad for the failed terrorist attack. But hey, you’re the four-star general. [AP via Google]
