A 29-year-old man was killed last night after jumping onto the N train track in Astoria to help a woman who was trying to retrieve her jacket. Jose Gomez and the unidentified woman were both hit by the northbound N train at around 10:40. They were trapped under the third car of the train as transit workers tried to de-energize the tracks. Tragically, Gomez then fell to the street from the elevated tracks. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman is in serious but stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital. [NYP]
