Hugo Chavez Has a Team of 200 Helping Him Tweet

Hugo Chavez — who once described Twitter as a “tool of terror” — has apparently changed his tune. The Venezuelan president created an account two weeks ago and already has over 260,000 followers. So far, he has a surprisingly levelheaded perspective on the array of tweets he’s received: “Some criticize me, others insult me. I don’t care,” he said, according to the AP. “It’s a form of contact with the world.”

Since encouraging others to get onto the site (Twitter is “a weapon that also needs to be used by the revolution,” he said), Chavez has received 54,000 messages via the site. And on Thursday, he placed 200 aides on a team to help him manage his tweets. If he needs this insane number of people just to respond to some @ replies, he would probably need the entire government if he ever gets on Facebook.
