Though some (Newt Gingrich, for example) spoke out strongly against Elena Kagan on the morning-show circuit this morning, the Supreme Court nominee got an unexpected endorsement from … former First Lady Laura Bush.
“I think it’s great. I’m really glad that there will be three [women on the Supreme Court] if she is confirmed,” Bush said on Fox News Sunday. “I like to have women on the Supreme Court I just like women to be represented in all parts of American political and civic life.”
Not sure where this Laura Bush — giving both gay marriage and Elena Kagan the stamp of approval (in the same week, no less!) — came from, but we’re certainly not complaining.
