600,000 iPhone 4 Devices Ordered, Despite Glitches

Yesterday was the first day you could preorder the iPhone 4, and quite a lot of people did just that, despite technical problems that beset the online ordering system, causing Apple to have to shut down sales temporarily. Despite the waits and frustration on the part of many customers, stock in the company rose 3 percent after 600,000 iPhones were ordered, a record for a single day for the company. Of course, these phones won’t arrive until three weeks after you can just go to a store and pick one up on June 24, but hey, ordering first is much more cool than a few days of being the only person on the subway with an iPhone 4, right?
