While the world continues to wait for blogger Will Folks to prove that he had an “inappropriate physical relationship” with South Carolina gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley, another man with less (zero) evidence and more dubious motivations has come forward alleging an affair. Larry Marchant, a prominent South Carolina lobbyist and campaign aide to Lieutenant Governor André Bauer who, coincidentally, is one of three candidates running against Haley for the Republican nomination went public Wednesday after disclosing the affair to Bauer and being fired.
Marchant says he and Haley had a one-night stand at a 2008 conference in Salt Lake City. “We had sexual relations. We had sex,” he recalls, quite bluntly. “We had several drinks, we went to dinner, we did go to a couple of bars … you know, it just happened. It was one time, and one time only.” Haley, obviously, denies everything. And even Marchant admits that he has absolutely no proof. South Carolina, you are such a tease.
