With a live microphone on her, California Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina recently commented on her opponent Barbara Boxer’s hair: “God, what is that? … Sooo yesterday.” Now Fiorina is vaguely remorseful about this: “I regret this whole situation,” she said. “I gave people the opportunity to talk about something petty and superficial. This is a very serious election year about serious issues.” First of all, that’s not exactly an apology. More important, is the woman who legitimately called a hairdo “so yesterday” now throwing the blame at us for being too quick to talk about “superficial” things?
