Hitch-22 author Christopher Hitchens has cut short his autobiographical book tour because he’s being treated for cancer on his esophagus, according to a statement from his publisher. Hitchens, who officially gave up smoking in 2008, would still sneak smokes as recently as a month ago. The 61-year-old said that he “been advised by my physician that I must undergo a course of chemotherapy on my esophagus. This advice seems persuasive to me.” [WP]
