James Clapper Has to Be the Director of National Intelligence Now

Two weeks after Dennis Blair was forced out of his job as director of national intelligence, President Obama will reportedly nominate James Clapper, who currently serves as the undersecretary of defense for intelligence, as his replacement tomorrow. Clapper will be charged with the thankless task of coordinating the nation’s sixteen different intelligence agencies, and will be partly blamed should a lone nut blow something up at some point. Congratulations/sorry, James Clapper. [Marc Ambinder/Atlantic]
