Here’s a good metric by which to measure how optimistic Newsweek’s senior staffers are about the title’s future. Investigative reporter Michael Isikoff didn’t leave the magazine after watching his Monica Lewinksy scoop, possibly the most sensational story of the nineties, get killed by his editors at Newsweek. (Mere hours later, Matt Drudge would make his career by reporting Isikoff’s story.) But now that the magazine is on the block — secret wealthy suitors notwithstanding — Isikoff has decided that now is the time to jump ship to NBC News. [TVNewser/Mediabistro]
