Architects Name Times Building the City’s Ugliest (Updated)

The AIA Guide to New York City has revealed its annual list of the city’s top ten ugliest buildings, and the selections include a mix of gaudy and dull, ranging from the T.G.I. Friday’s on Fifth Avenue (deemed ninth ugliest) to the “winner,” the (popular climbing spot) New York Times building. Donald Trump also had a stellar showing, with his Trump Tower and Trump Place taking the No. 4 and No. 5 slots, respectively. [NYDN]

Update: According to AIA New York Communications Director Emily Nemens, this list does not actually appear in the guide and is not published annually. According to Nemens, Jen Carlson at Gothamist made the picks based on the discussion of the buildings in the guide. (Carlson’s explanation Tuesday can be read here.)
